Britney Spears Next Single - Criminal

Britney Spears Next Single

Britney Spears announced Criminal as the fourth single of her seventh studio album Femme Fatale, at the VMAs on Sunday, August 28, 2011.

In a backstage interview with MTV, Britney teased, "I don't if I'm at liberty to tell" and then dished anyway, "But I will anyways: It's 'Criminal.' "

The guitar-driven, flute based midtempo track was written by Max Martin, Shellback and Tiffany Amber; and produced by by Martin and Shellback. Its lyrics speaks of being in love with an outlaw.

"Actually the song, when I first heard it, it's really different and it's not anything I've heard like this before. So I really wanted to deliver this song. I was thinking of a really cool concept for the video just to make it interesting," she said.

Britney looked a winner all the way at the VMAs on Sunday, dressed in a short Moschino mini dress covered in jet sequins. She exuded confidence reminiscent of the pop princess that straddled the music world as a colossus not so long ago, taking home the Moonman for Best Pop Video for her "Till the World Ends" clip and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Having finished the North American leg of her Femme Fatale tour, Britney will next embark on the tour's European leg with a performance in St. Petersburg in Russian on September 22.

Joe Jonas will join Britney in Europe on October 16 and be her opening act for 10 shows across Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
