It’s only been two weeks since news of Hilary Duff’s occupied uterus hit the blogosphere, and the tot is already shaking things up for the Disney Kid-turned-Mother-to-Be.
The Duffster, 23, has been dumped from the upcoming remake of the ’60s cinema gem Bonnie and Clyde. Hilary stirred up a stink in 2009 when she was tipped to star, alongside Kevin Zegers, in The Story of Bonnie and Clyde. Even Faye Dunaway, who donned a beret and picked up a machine gun to play Bonnie in the original flick, allegedly protested the casting. Now it appears naysayers will get their wish, as the movie’s producers cast the net again to find a new actress, as well as new lead actor, to play the iconic on-screen criminal couple.
The baby, the first for Hilary and hubby of one year Mike Comrie — an NHL star, is due early next year. However, whispers that Hils was ditched because of her pregnant condition simply aren’t true, according to a statement from producers Tonya Holly and Tom Rogers, of Cypress Moon Studios.
“We were told that Duff would not be available until June 2012 and that Zegers would not be available until January of the new year,” they said. “Due to our obligations with investors and international buyers it is imperative that we stick to our current schedule. Therefore we are forced to explore other options for the two lead roles. Unfortunately this happens all the time in the world of filmmaking.”
