He’s been a rapper, an actor and a Calvin Klein underwear model – and now Mark Wahlberg can add restaurateur to his already impressive resume: Along with his brothers — New Kid on the Block Donnie and Boston-area chef Paul — Mark “Marky Mark” Wahlberg is opening a burger joint, called – get this – Wahlburgers!
We’re calling it a new reason to visit Boston, Massachusetts.
But don’t let the ridiculous name fool you. The brothers are no strangers to the restaurant game; they previously owned a successful Italian restaurant called Alma Nove (named after their mom – aww!), plus, they’re rumoured to be opening a pizzeria next year.
But somehow Wahlpizzas doesn’t have the same ring to it.
The brothers were forced to purchase the Wahlburger name (which had been previously trademarked) from a chain of burger stores based in Rochester, New York after they discovered it sold a product called “The Wahlburger.” The restaurant’s ownership is said to have reached an “amicable agreement” with the chain, however, they are remaining tight-lipped as to how much The Wahlburgs actually paid for rights to the name.
